Title of Bill: 2018 Executive Branch Act

Be it resolved by the Franciscan University Student Government (SG) that:
All mention of the position of Executive Assistant in the FUSG By-Laws be changed to Chief of Staff, and By-Law I. C. 2. be amended to add the following section.
By-Law I.C.2.7. “The Chief of Staff will work with the Internal Auditor in ensuring that the other members of the executive branch are fulfilling their duties in a manner consistent with the FUSG by-laws by continually corresponding with the other members to maintain a constant dialogue of responsibility and cooperation.”
Recognizing that:
- The current title of “Executive Assistant” does not accurately reflect the duties of the position with this change to its job description.
- By putting the Chief of Staff in charge of the rest of the executive branch, it will establish a clear chain of command that will free up the President and Vice President to more effectively carry out their duties by delegating the responsibility of job accountability to the Chief of Staff
- Such delegation is a principle of good leadership and will serve the executive branch well going forward.
