Senate Bill: Fall 2018 – #63

Title of Bill: Allocation of funds to FUSG for purchase of Access Fixtures: Two Pole Volleyball Court Lighting Package.

Sponsor(s): Senator Silva

Be it resolved by the Franciscan University Student Government (SG) that:

$4,718 be allocated to cover the purchase and installation of Access Fixtures: Two Pole Volleyball Court Lighting Package

Recognizing that:

  • Outdoor volleyball court lights would allow for students in the intramural sand volleyball courts to extend their play beyond dusk.
  • This is an improvement that will benefit the entirety of the student body for years to come and encourages a positive outdoor activity.
  • President Gessler and Internal Auditor Genuis negotiated the price down by 30%. The quote is good only until one day after the formal Wednesday meeting.
  • The lights are rated IP 67 – The luminaire components are sealed and are even submersible. Water will not effect the performance of this luminaire now or for years to come.
  • The lights are certified at 200,000 hours. After 200,000 hours of use, the LEDs will still emit 70% of the initial lumen output
