Fides et Opera
Senate Bill: Fall 2017 #19
Title of Bill: Allocation of Funds to Young Americans for Freedom for Printing
Sponsor(s): Senator McNichol
Be it resolved by the Franciscan University Student Government (SG) that:
$400 be allocated to Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) for printing costs for the Steubenville Stimulus Project directory.
Recognizing that:
- The Steubenville Stimulus Project is a student-led initiative to encourage students to shop at local business as opposed to chain stores/restaurants or businesses in distant places like Pittsburgh. The objectives to stimulate the local economy and help family businesses through increased spending, and to integrate students into the local community.
- The project was launched midway in the spring 2017 semester and was popular with students. YAF wishes to make a bigger impact by pushing the project at the beginning of the year so that students can make use of the directory all school year long.
- Enough copies will be made to place one in each off-campus mailbox, one for each height, and additional copies to be distributed around campus for offcampus students.
- The project furthers YAF’s mission of fostering citizenship in the community and supporting a free market economy where students choose where to spend their dollars.
